Is Summer Here Yet?

Spring is teasing us. I hope it comes quickly and we can get on with summer!

The weather is getting better, but we’re still due for another snowfall. It’ll probably wait until all of the current snow has melted.

I’m looking forward to this summer. My boy is another year older and we’ll be outside more. We’ll be swimming and playing on the soccer/football field behind my apartment. Maybe I’ll get him a little tennis racket and he can practise hitting tennis balls. Running and catching up to him will help me lose some of the weight I lost over the winter. I remember having to chase him when we went to Taylor Field last year – I chased him up and down the field three or four times!

Golfing. After getting back into it a bit last year, I hope to do a lot more this year. Of course, my first order of business is to decimate my older brother. We’re still exchanging trash talk over email and having lots of fun doing it.

Football season. My beloved Saskatchewan Roughriders have gone through some changes during the off-season. We lost both of defensive ends (Chick and Baggs), our backup QB (Jyles), one of our DBs (Davis retired) and a few others. We also have some new assistant coaches because some of ours went over to the Blue Bombers (funny this is we got some of their coaches, including their ex-head coach).

I hope the summer is better than the last couple. The weather was a bit inconsistent during the last couple years. Almost every time I had Damien for a visit, the weather was less than it should have been, which limited our activities. I look forward to some nice, hot weather so I can play outside with Damien and get my golfing in.

I’m not a winter person. Never have been. If I could have summer weather 365 days a year, I’d take it. I’m not a big fan of snow, so I wouldn’t mind not seeing it. Bring on summer!
